Fact: Yes you will! You will spend plenty of time in academic training, comparable to the university-led route. Our course enables you to achieve QTS and Post Graduate Level 7 credits (60).You are in fact enrolled onto the Masters for Teaching and Learning. This means that you will achieve the Post Graduate Certificate in Education. We find this is a more flexible route for our trainees, so again we can bespoke the learning to you. 

Fact: It’s not new! School-led routes into teaching have been around for many years, we have been leading school led provision for 15 very successful years. We have high rates of trainee satisfaction, outcomes and employment.

Fact: You will not be on your own! You will start to plan and lead the learning of particular groups, when you are ready. This will be different for each trainee. Our programme is bespoke and the level of support received from experienced practitioners in and out of the classroom means you will build your skills set. Your timetable will gradually increase to match your confidence and competence.

Fact: No you’ll have more than one! To become a qualified teacher, you have to take training placements in at least two schools. Trainees will train in at least two schools – and you will get time in other schools in addition to this to ensure you have a wide range of understanding about different educational provision on offer.

Fact: It’s no different! School-led financial support is the same as for the traditional university-led path. Tuition fees are capped at £9250 and we will arrange the DfE Bursaries where allowed. 

Fact: Its perfect! We have many trainees each year who are changing career, from all different backgrounds and ages. We find career changers are anxious about going back to ‘school’. Our trainees always talk about the fact they are part of their school community from day one – and not seen as a ‘student’.

Fact: SCITTs are schools which have been given government approval to run their own training courses. They can be searched for under ‘SCITT programme’ on UCAS. As a SCITT we also work in collaboration with a number of  Teaching Schools, giving us school direct allocations too – which is why we  have so many codes! The key thing is to remember all of our courses follow exactly the same structure – the only difference is the UCAS Provider Code!! So please have a look at all possibilities.

For example we don’t have SCITT Art & Design but we do have Schools Direct Art & Design – to us they are exactly the same – to you they are a different application code for exactly the same programme!
